The Blue Wave

The Blue Wave is a boutique, high-definition media production company based in Rockville, Maryland specializing in seeing things differently.

The Blue Wave was started by award-winning Director/Editor Tom Prather to pursue creative ideas and produce compelling content. The Blue Wave has grown to create, produce and edit national television ads, feature length films, television series and online web programming on the innovative Blue TV platform.

Prather dove into the business as an editor and continued to add to his proverbial toolbox. Cutting his teeth on regional and national advertisements, he had his eyes set on creating and overseeing his own projects.

With the personal motto of “Why can’t I?” firmly in tow, Prather wrote and directed several films including the short film Meetings, which received national attention from Sammy Hagar, who appears on the soundtrack and whose tequila, Cabo Wabo, sponsored the film.

Dewey Beach the Movie was Prather’s second film working as director/editor. The Blue Wave co-produced the feature-length film, which was a featured selection at the American Renaissance Film Festival.

The Web Design Department of The Blue Wave opened in 2007 and has already gained considerable national acclaim, winning a W3 Web Award for the design of the website for Dewey Beach the Movie.

The future is exciting—what with revolutionizing the way we watch television and all.  Our brand new product, Blue TV is changing web/television and the way original content is being produced and distributed.  And with new TV projects on the horizon, The Blue Wave looks to make waves in 2011.
